The crested penguin, scientifically known as Eudyptes, is a species of penguin native to the southern hemisphere. It belongs to the family Spheniscidae and is characterized by its distinct head crest or plume, which distinguishes it from other penguin species. This crest is made up of long, yellow feathers that extend backwards from the bird's forehead.
Crested penguins inhabit various islands and coasts of Antarctica, as well as neighboring sub-Antarctic regions such as New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa.
